Lyrics:

The meadow was green and flowers were blooming
Butterflies were dancing in pairs over the flowers
As it has been passed down for hundreds of years
The love story of Liang Shanbo And Zhu Yintai

Classmates for three years, they were good friends
Two innocent youngsters companied and relied upon each other……….

Suddenly the sky turned dark
And thunderstorm appeared on a sunny day
Because of parents’ decisions and arranged marriage
Had torn apart so many couples in love
Yingtai could not defy her father and the tradition
Her parents had long time ago
Promised to marry her to a son of the Ma family
Ah! The poor Yintai

Ah! Brother Liang
I wish we could be birds flying together in sky
I wish we could be branches growing on the same tree
Live or dead we should not part…….

She would rather die than marrying Ma
Even the oceans dry out and rocks turn to dust, she won’t change her mind

They met and reaffirmed their love to each other
The cruel reality would separate them forever
They could not be husband and wife in this life
The tears flowed and drenched the loving couples

Brother Liang, Brother Liang
Live or dead we shall never part
Live or dead we share the same tomb with you………

Rainbow spanned the sky and flowers were blooming
Butterflies were dancing in pairs over the flowers
As it has been passed down for hundreds of years
The love story of Lian Shanbo and Zhu Yintai
